Plumbing fixtures
Plumbing fixtures are parts of a plumbing system which
deliver and drain away water. Among the most recognizable of these features
are bathtubs, sinks, toilets, urinals, and showers. These also include
terminal valves for dishwashers and icemakers.
There are certain things which all plumbing fixtures have. These include
water inlets, drains and flood rims. When water hits above the flood
rim is when it begins to overflow. Many fixtures will have a feature
which prevents overflow from ever taking place.
In addition to those features, plumbing fixtures also have traps. Traps
prevent sewer gases from rising into a home or other type of building.
They do this by having pipes curve down and then back up. Water gets
trapped in the curve, which creates a seal between internal and external
air. The feature itself is usually out of sight, though sometimes visible.
